The March for Jesus in 2020: A PraiseWalk

On the morning of May 30, 2020, we will unite our praise with seven expressions of praise and prayer that spring from Paul’s letter to the Philippians, culminating at 12 noon with a gesture and confession that Jesus Christ is Lord. Instead of large processions, we are encouraging smaller groups, many as small as two or three, to scatter in their communities praising and praying as they walk, drive or even stand in their homes or their front yards.

The March for Jesus is traditionally a public procession of praise glorifying Jesus Christ, gathering many from different streams of Christ’s body. Because of the Covid-19 crisis those plans have been shifted to May 22, 2021.

On the morning of May 30, 2020, we will unite our praise with seven expressions of praise and prayer that spring from Paul’s letter to the Philippians. First, we will praise our Lord Jesus with truths in Philippians 2:5-15. Then, from Philippians 4:4-20, we will pray for the people of our communities, and other cities and countries, culminating at 12 noon with a gesture and confession that Jesus Christ is Lord.

We’ve called this format of praise and prayer a “PraiseWalk,” after the well-known idea of prayer walking, which is simply praying near the very places we expect to see God answer our prayers. The PraiseWalk model highlights praise and thanksgiving, but also encourages participants to pray for Christ’s blessing upon the people, families, schools, businesses and government leaders of their communities.
