“Being listened to is so close to being loved that most people cannot tell the difference.”
Alpha is a safe place for people to be real and ask questions about faith and the meaning of life. No question is too simple or too complicated. On Alpha, people can share their honest perspective on a variety of topics. People are listened to and loved and aren’t treated like a project or forced to any conclusions.
Practically speaking, Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith, typically run over eleven weeks. Each week of Alpha consists of:
- A Talk – high quality, relevant, and engaging video series or live talks
- Hospitality – which can consist of delicious food if meeting in-person or fun and games if meeting online = welcoming atmosphere
- Small Group Discussion – the most important part of Alpha where people have conversations about the topic. Though the content is amazing, it’s not about the content…it’s about the conversation.
Alpha is not a program or a curriculum, it’s an experience. Alpha is an effective tool for the Church, across all denominations, Catholic and Protestant. Millions of people around the world have experienced Alpha and millions of people have encountered the love of God through this ministry. Below are key highlights from the Barna Group regarding an impact study they did for Alpha.
Lives Changed. Churches Renewed. Society Transformed.
